Design & technical drawings
Develop the engineering concept around the machine, dimensions, interfaces and practical requirements.
Practical hydraulic engineering for industrial machinery and equipment where the standard solution does not quite fit.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
We start by understanding the existing machine, the application and the practical requirement. That can mean modifying an existing hydraulic system, developing a component, fabricating an assembly, integrating controls or engineering a more involved bespoke solution.
We start by understanding the application and the practical requirement, then work through the engineering route from our Keighley workshop. That can mean modifying an existing system, manufacturing a component, fabricating an assembly or developing a more complete bespoke hydraulic solution.
Our bespoke work brings hydraulic engineering together with workshop manufacturing and practical problem solving. The exact scope depends on the application and the project requirement.
Develop the engineering concept around the machine, dimensions, interfaces and practical requirements.
Develop or adapt hydraulic arrangements around the existing machine, including components, connections and controls.
Produce or modify hydraulic and mechanical components where a standard replacement does not provide the right solution.
Bring fabricated, machined and purchased components together into a practical workshop-built assembly.
Improve or adapt existing equipment where the original arrangement no longer meets the application’s needs.
Where required, combine hydraulic engineering with electrical integration, control panels and PLC-based control work.
Good bespoke engineering starts with understanding the real requirement, not jumping straight to a drawing or a component.
What does the machine need to do? What is failing, changing or preventing the current system from working as required?
Where available, we work from the existing component, machine, drawings, measurements and photographs to understand the starting point.
The solution may be a modification, replacement component, fabricated assembly or a more complete bespoke hydraulic system.
Carry out the appropriate workshop work and, where applicable, check the completed assembly before it is returned or collected.
BESPOKE PROJECTS
Bespoke hydraulic engineering is where many of our more involved projects come together. Rather than treating these as generic service claims, we are building detailed case-study pages around the real work — showing the requirement, engineering approach, solution and result.
Case study covering the hydraulic system, controls, engineering approach and finished solution.
Project page in developmentCase study covering project-specific pipework, hydraulic assembly and engineering information.
Project page in developmentCase study covering the refurbishment requirement, repair work, engineering process and result.
Project page in developmentCase study covering a specialist valve requirement, engineering solution and completed result.
Project page in developmentCase study covering the industrial application, engineering challenge and completed solution.
Project page in developmentCase study covering the machine requirement, engineering work and finished outcome.
Project page in developmentDetailed project pages will be added as each case study is developed. The projects above are the practical examples that define the scope of our bespoke engineering work.
WHEN BESPOKE MAKES SENSE
A bespoke solution can make sense when the machine has unusual space constraints, an existing system needs modifying, a component is difficult to source, or the application needs an arrangement that is not available as a standard product.
The aim is not to make something bespoke for the sake of it. The aim is to solve the engineering problem in a practical way that works with the machine and the way it is used.
COMMON APPLICATIONS
Our bespoke work is primarily focused on the hydraulic systems, controls, components and engineering modifications within industrial machinery and equipment.
Hydraulic and mechanical engineering work around production, process and specialist equipment.
Purpose-built components, assemblies and hydraulic solutions for machinery with specific operating requirements.
Practical hydraulic changes to existing machinery where performance, layout or operating requirements have changed.
Hydraulic, electrical and PLC control integration where the machine requires a coordinated control solution.
STARTING A PROJECT
The useful starting point is the problem and the application. The more information you can provide, the quicker we can understand what is involved.
Send photographs, drawings, measurements or details of the existing component or machine. If you already have a sketch or specification, send that too.
WHAT TO SEND US
BESPOKE HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING IN KEIGHLEY
Active Hydraulics provides practical hydraulic and engineering support from our workshop in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
We work with customers across Keighley and the surrounding West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire area, including Skipton, Bradford, Halifax, Leeds, Colne and wider Lancashire.

Explore hose assemblies →Inspection, resealing, component repair, refurbishment and rebuilds.
Explore cylinder repairs →Repair, modification and bespoke hydraulic power solutions engineered around the application.
Explore power packs →It means developing a practical hydraulic or engineering solution around a specific machine, component, application or problem rather than relying on an off-the-shelf arrangement. Depending on the requirement, this can include design, technical drawings, machining, fabrication, assembly and hydraulic integration.
Yes. Bespoke engineering is intended for requirements where a standard component or arrangement does not adequately solve the problem. The practical route is developed around the application and the information available.
Yes. Existing components, photographs, measurements, drawings and machine details can all help establish the requirement. Where appropriate, existing parts can also provide useful information for replacement, modification or engineering work.
Work can include hydraulic system modifications, specialist hydraulic equipment, component manufacture, fabrication and assembly, hydraulic integration, control systems and other engineering requirements where a practical workshop-built solution is needed.
No. Start with the problem, the application and whatever information you already have. Photographs, drawings, measurements, existing components and machine details can help the engineering discussion.
Yes. The service is built around understanding the requirement first, then identifying a practical engineering route. The exact design and build scope depends on the project.
