Bring us the old hose
The original assembly gives us useful information about its length, fittings, orientation, markings and construction.
Got a failed hydraulic hose? Bring the original into our Keighley workshop. We'll identify the hose and fittings, match the components and build the replacement — often while you wait.
You do not need to know the exact hose, fitting or specification before you come to us. Bring the existing hose into our Keighley workshop and we'll inspect what you have, identify the hose and end fittings and work out what is needed for the replacement.
With an extensive range of hose, hose tails, ferrules and fittings in stock, we can build many straightforward replacement assemblies while you wait.

The process is deliberately simple. Bring us what you have and we'll do the technical detective work needed to establish the replacement.
The original assembly gives us useful information about its length, fittings, orientation, markings and construction.
We identify the hose type, bore, end connections, fitting style and other details that affect the replacement.
We select suitable hose, hose tails, ferrules and fittings from the stock available for the job.
Where the required components are available, many straightforward replacements can be assembled while you wait.

A hydraulic hose assembly is a combination of compatible components. The hose, hose tail or insert, ferrule and end connection all need to work together for the application.
That's why bringing the original assembly to us is so useful. We can see what was fitted, how the ends were configured and what the machine was using — rather than expecting you to identify every component yourself.

Hydraulic hose laylines can contain useful information about the manufacturer, hose range, standard, nominal size, working pressure and temperature range. We use these markings as part of the identification process when assessing a replacement.
If the markings are worn, dirty or difficult to interpret, don't worry. Bring the hose in and we'll help identify what we can from the assembly itself.

Hydraulic fittings can look very similar while using different thread forms and sealing methods. Correct identification matters before selecting a replacement.
Hydraulic hose size is commonly identified using dash size, which relates to the nominal inside diameter of the hose. The hose dash size is not the same thing as the fitting thread size.

If we are working from a drawing, measurements or photographs rather than the original hose, these are some of the details that may need to be established.
The finished assembly length and the hose cut length are not necessarily the same measurement. Fitting cut-off dimensions need to be taken into account when establishing the hose length.
If you are unsure what needs measuring, bring the existing assembly into the workshop. Where practical, we can work from the hose and fittings themselves.
Bring the complete old hose where possible. If you cannot, send clear photographs of the whole assembly and both ends, plus any visible hose markings and useful measurements.
We can then tell you what information is still needed.
We support a wide range of hydraulic applications from our Keighley workshop.
Hydraulic systems can operate at high pressure. Never search for a hydraulic leak with your hands, and make sure equipment is safely isolated and depressurised before removing a hose. If you're unsure, get competent help.
Active Hydraulics is based at Atlas Works, 255 Bradford Road, Stockbridge, Keighley, BD21 4BU.

It is often the quickest way for us to identify exactly what you need and assess whether we can build the replacement while you wait.

Yes. Bringing the old hose into the workshop is often the easiest way for us to identify the hose, fittings, length and orientation required for a replacement.
No. Bring the old hose or fitting to our Keighley workshop where possible and we can help identify the hose, fitting and connection details.
Clear photographs, hose markings, measurements, part numbers, drawings and information about the machine can all help us establish the requirement.
We work with common hydraulic connection families including BSP, JIC, ORFS and metric fittings. The correct choice depends on the application and complete connection specification.
Not necessarily. Fitting cut-off dimensions need to be taken into account when establishing the length of hose to cut.
